Glade Cave - 11/26/2025

Casey Tucker Reporting

2 Sentence Horror Story

13 people entered Glade Cave. 4 exited.

The rest of the story:

The other 9 exited later, as planned.

We went into Glade the evening before Thanksgiving for a jolly jaunt. A family of 4 were only coming in for the entrance area, so we started in the “Playground” and then ventured into the Large Intestine. The brave amongst them travelled further into the Small Intestine. Dawn & family departed shortly thereafter, while the rest of us continued down the 8’rope drop, down a ladder, through the Register Room, and on back to the Pool Room.

We had a first time caver, a second time caver, a handful of other new-ish cavers along for the trip, and we had a blast. We saw 10 bats and a salamander according to our trip biologist, Ashley. Our paleo guide, Lori, found an ammonite fossil. Folks crawled and squoze and climbed and got a little muddy, which is hard to believe for Glade Cave… The cave was actually drier than any of us had ever seen it.

The total trip time was about 2.5 hours, which was a great way to prepare for Thanksgiving. May we all celebrate a fun trip with beige foods and good friends and family.

Trip participants: Dawn, Barron, Barron, Brennan, Lori, Ashley, Kaylee, Branden, Carrie, Madison, Ben, Casey, & Harriet
