Piercys Mill and Annex - 4/3/2026
Harriet Flynn Reporting
Important info: To access this cave you must now have approval from the landowner ahead of your trip. Do not show up to the property without permission.
On Friday, April 3, 7 of us met up and went to Piercys Mill Cave and its Annex. On the trip was Harriet, Chris A, Katie, Tyler, Karl, Evan, and Cole.
We talked with the land owner, hung out with the two farm dogs, and got ourselves dressed for the cave. Several of us chose to wear wetsuits since in this cave you might be wet up to your mid section.
As we entered the cave one of the dogs decided to join us for the journey. He followed us pretty far in until we were in the first rimstone pool room. He was a very talented cave dog and go through everything faster than we did. Once the natural light was fully gone the dog didn’t want to be there anymore. A few people in our group took the dog back to the entrance and made sure he could get out before heading back to join us.
In the second rimstone pool room we hung out, took photos, and explored some of the off shoots. As we headed back towards the first room we crawled down and underneith and after some time exploring we discovered that since the water was lower than the last two years we could crawl our way from the second room to the first room. The features down there were really cool and it was exciting to be able to explore a section that we havn’t been able to see the last few times.
After coming out of the cave we headed to the Annex which does involve getting wet up to your chest and squeezing through a narrow (but short) section with many spiders/ spider crickets. But it was fun on the other side of the squeeze to explore. As far as I know, there is no map of the Annex, but it has multiple passages and is a lot longer that we anticipated it being. Sadly we didn’t get any photos in the Annex because we were so muddy.
