Boarhole - 3/24/2024

Renee Erickson Reporting

Our trip to Boarhole on 3/24 was a great time! We had a great mix of people from both the grotto and UVA, and I think both groups enjoyed getting to meet each other. Several of the students were very new to caving and really appreciated getting to meet some more involved cavers.

We made our way through the cave, spending some time in the very large room close to the entrance and then making our way down Boaring Boulevard. We attempted to make our way through the nervous breakdown section of the cave, but struggled to find our way through some complex breakdown and weird water-carved passages. Decided to head down to the big room after lunch and had a great time looking at some crystals and stone sculptures people had made near there. Did some good lights-out meditation before making our way out, making our trip about 3.5 hours in total.

All were slightly disappointed that the cat who lives on the property never made an appearance.
