Undisclosed Cave - 10/15/2023

Harriet Flynn reporting

On Sunday 10/15 a group of 12 of us (9 from our grotto) went to an undisclosed cave. The purpose of the trip was to check out the cave and look at the sump.

Aiden, Ed, Wendy, Rebecca, Scott, Josh, Harriet, Margo, Karl, Tommy Shifflett, JD, and Alexis went in the cave at about 11:45. At the start of the cave we had to squat down and be immersed in water several feet high. After two sections of water we were in the clear to stand up and change to dry clothes if needed. We spent some time looking around the cave and seeing all the little brown bats that were on the ceiling. We then headed for the sump where JD took a look into the sump. He said he had about 20 ft of visibility and couldn't see the other side.

After checking out the sump it was time to do some more exploring. Several people crawled down a very muddy tube and returned covered head to toe in mud. We then headed back further into the cave to see how far we could go. Along the way we saw several bat bones.

We exited the cave at 2:15 and headed back to the cars to peel off our wet clothes and wetsuits.
